Hello to all the wonderful humans out there who are indulging me in this super self-centered blog post. I love it.
Please enjoy this adorable of picture of me to the left because I was having a really good hair day, and yes, this was taken in the bathroom of my best friend's apartment after I flipped a table at the end of a game of monopoly and ate my burrito in silence after being cheated by faux capitalism. I'm still a ~professional~ It's called range.
Alright, so I figured I would create a space that gives everyone a little insight into my mind, things I'm obsessed with, and some foreshadowing into how I am when it comes to things I love so you can determine if you want to work with me or not. This is also the best place for you to sort of scope out if you think we have common interests and what I'm just genuinely like as a person, because I'm assuming most everyone reading this is aspiring to be in publishing in one way or another, and it's an industry all the same. You should like who you work with. I should like who I work with. We should all get paid more money. Goats should be acceptable apartment pets. I yield my time.
Anyway. Keep reading on if you'd like to know more about me for future best friend purposes, if you are Henry Cavill or Regé-Jean Page and would like to start a courtship, or, I guess the traditional, if you are looking for representation.
Quick Facts:
✨I am a mixed race Black woman.
✨My voice sounds like the villain of a teen beach 90s Barbie movie.
✨I have several degrees in English and creative writing, as well as a degree in History with an emphasis in the English and Italian Renaissance and Reformations and a certification in Classics and Latin studies.
✨If I was on the Grammys board, I would nominate Jason Derulo every year JUST for the opening line of each of his songs when he sings out his name.
✨I once rode the Euro Star with Paul Rudd and the only thing I could think to say to him as we stood in line was "I really liked Clueless."
✨The only reason I have a Twitter account in the first place is because I used to tweet at Pope Francis once a day for two years leading up to my visit to the Vatican City. I even wished him a happy Father's Day. There is literally no reason as to why I did this.
✨I was a summer camp counselor for 6 years and.....that just does something to you. I'm built different....built different.

Okay, so there are also some things that I really look for that don't always reflect in what I consume on a daily basis. I'm obsessed with spooky. I love Halloween. I want hundreds of black cats, cauldrons, and cloaks that match with dresses and skirts that go "swoosh." I will always look at things that have ghosts in them, as long as it's not a story about a dead best friend a la Pretty Little Liars. Brendan Fraiser in The Mummy is gold and no one can tell me otherwise. I'm in love with all things fantasy and am slightly more hesitant when it comes to science fiction. I would like to be a mermaid some days and a vampire all the time. I collect tea cups and tea pots, have several floor length dresses, always keep orchids in my room, and pretend like I'm an actual cottagecore fairy tale come to life when I'm alone. I also eat my body's weight in pasta and avoid washing my hair while I binge watch reality tv on the weekly. But it's all about balance.
Lover of science and stars and the reverse black hole. Weirdly still devastated about Dodo birds. Obsessed with Alice in Wonderland and won't eat mustard because the Mad Hatter doesn't. Will go to doesthedogdie.com before every movie just in case. Still mad about Game of Thrones.
This doesn't feel nearly as whole as I thought it would. It's sort of like when you go out in public and you say you like to read and a person you've never met before asks what your favorite book is and then you stare at them wishing for death. Kind of like that.
BUT, this will do for now. I'll rant on Twitter when I think of more I suppose.
Hello Ms. Forney,
I am so appreciative of this blog. It’s not all the time that I get to see the many interests of a literary agent like this. So good to know exactly what you like. I leaped for joy inside when I saw that you enjoy The Mandalorian and Doctor Who. Two of my favorite tv shows EVER. Thanks so much for this insight into your life. Looking forward to reading more of this blog in the future. -Abby Freeman
Ugh! I just reread my response and I already see grammatical mistakes so I apologize. I must do a better job of editing !
Well Emily Forney, it looks as though I have found my twin. Albeit with a 30 year difference. Ann Rice introduced me to Vampires so many years ago and I have a soft spot for those wretched passionate souls. I live historical fiction but more for the pretty dresses and romance than for the history. Pope Francis was the first Twitter account I followed. Reading Papa’s tweets literally lifts my spirits. I started late in life and At my age though there have been some social media gaffs. Like when I sent Pope Francis a scathing response that was meant for a certain leader of the free world. Ugh, embarrassing and mortifying! I started following you through the bookends Instag…
